Sunday during these trips is generally a pretty laid back day with time to acclimate and even play some cribbage. We did start our morning with our daily sunrise rosary. It’s so peaceful and the best way to start the day. Dianne even had a dove land on her this morning right before the rosary, we decided it was a real physical descent of the Holy Spirit. We went to a Haitian church, just 2 1/2 hours of energetic and enthusiastic worship. We didn’t understand a word, but you have to admire their commitment to the faith. They even asked me to address the congregation, now that’s a true leap of faith. We have a new adopted team member this year, Wendy Almengor from Florida who bravely made this trip on her own, her first time in the mission fields. We’re looking forward to working and serving with her this week. It was great reconnecting with many Mission of Hope friends from years past who are working here in the DR. We head into the surrounding community tomorrow for Strategic Ministry Time (SMT). It’s amazing how welcoming people can be to a group of mostly North Americans that come knocking on their door and ask to come in and chat about their lives and their faith. It gives MOH and the local pastors a wonderful opportunity to assess physical and spiritual needs in their community. Dave Berg
