Monday 2025

Posted on July 1, 2025

Saturday was travel day and Sunday is a get settled and honor the Sabbath quiet day.  Today we got to work.  We have 5 days of work this week and Mission of Hope has big expectations for what we’re going to accomplish, we’ll certainly do our best.  Our primary project today was painting both inside and outside a house for an older couple.  As we were painting outside, we asked the husband if we should paint a certain area and he said yes, then he said wait, you better ask my wife.  She said no.  And then she changed her mind.  It’s the same everywhere.  They had a young, maybe 18-month old, granddaughter.  I motioned to her asking if I could hold her, she reached right out and slid right into my lap, I think she could sense I was a grandpa and all was good. We also had some planning work to do to get ready to add lower cabinets and countertop and sink with plumbing improvements in a women’s kitchen.  We’re also adding shelving in a church that they will use for a food shelf.  This evening we filled ‘family packs’ that we sponsored which will be distributed to families in need tomorrow.  Each pack will feed a family of 4 for a week.  Our old friend Reggie joined us today and he’ll be working with us all week.  He’s actually on staff with Mission of Hope now, but he was able to arrange his schedule so he could join us for the week.  We have two really great interns, Miles and Isaac.  They are hard workers and really nice guys with great senses of humor (always a plus).  Several MOH management folks from Austin were here today, it was great to catch up with some old friends.  On Saturday, I mentioned heavenly treasure, I feel like we got a bunch today.  Dave Berg
