Sundays are a day of anticipation, the real heart of our mission work always begins on Monday. We began our first day, as we do all days, with a sunrise rosary. We feel a true connection to the Lord as we gather with our first coffee of the day and pray as the sun comes up over the mountain. We had a special treat when we learned that the church service we were going to was actually a Haitian service. We also learned that we will be primarily serving Haitian immigrants and refugees this week. They were amazingly welcoming to us at the church service, they are always so gracious to us North American visitors. We had the same traditional Sunday night Haitian meal we have always had. We feel right at home. We had ample opportunity for team building this afternoon, always a plus.
We also learned today about a new initiative launched by Mission of Hope, called Team Hope. It will be available on the MOH website on July 1. There is a food crisis in Haiti, currently Mission of Hope feeds 90,000 kids each day. They are hoping to greatly increase that effort, the need is incredible. More information will be available on the MOH web site https://missionofhope.com/
